Abstract

This contribution offers readers a certain number of considerations on the
two-way relationship that is established between the language of a linguistic and
cultural community, more precisely between one of its subsystems: the lexical
subsystem and the social and political life of the members of this community, at a
specific moment in their history. The analysis will essentially focus on a small group
of words that have been encountered for around twenty years - with a frequency
differing greatly from one word to another -, in (socio)political speeches pronounced
in Romanian, intended for audiences composed of members of current Romanian
society. Our paper is a good opportunity for the author to draw attention to the
intension of the social and, especially, the political to have a powerful influence on
individuals, sometimes a real pressure, which can end up modifying the
representations to which such words previously returned for all speakers
