Abstract

Migration is one of the most complex challenges of the European Union, affecting border security, labor markets, social cohesion and fundamental rights. This article analyzes the evolution of EU policies on migration and asylum, the economic and social impact of migrants in Member States, as well as the tensions between national sovereignty and European integration. The study integrates Romanian and international perspectives, combining recent statistical data with the analysis of existing doctrines and policies. It also examines future challenges, including climate migration and the role of digitalization in managing migration flows. The results highlight the need for a multidimensional approach, balancing security, human rights and economic development, while strengthening solidarity between Member States.
