Abstract

Offender profiling is increasingly connected to the analysis of forensic evidence, particularly in situations where material traces represent the primary source of information regarding the commission of an offense. This study examines the relationship between physical evidence and behavioral interpretation, emphasizing the role of trace configuration in supporting the reconstruction of actions.

Rather than treating traces as isolated elements, the analysis focuses on how their distribution, interaction, and context may suggest patterns of activity. For instance, the spatial arrangement of bloodstains, movement traces, or contact marks on objects may indicate sequences of action, points of interaction, or attempts to alter the scene. Such elements do not directly reveal behavior, but they provide a structured basis for interpretation.

The integration of profiling into forensic analysis is addressed as a complementary process, in which behavioral hypotheses are formulated in relation to observable data. At the same time, the study highlights the need to maintain a clear distinction between what is supported by evidence and what remains interpretative.

By combining material analysis with structured behavioral interpretation, the article proposes a more applied approach to understanding the crime scene, one that remains grounded in forensic data while allowing for the reconstruction of actions within a coherent analytical framework.
